About me

Rooted in Peterborough — walking alongside you.

I'm Rodney Pinto, a Registered Psychotherapist who grew up in Peterborough, Ontario. For more than 15 years I've sat with people through anxiety, grief, trauma, and the quiet weight of life's transitions. My approach is warm, honest, and grounded in genuine collaboration — I'll engage with you directly, help you see things clearly, and work with you toward real, meaningful change. Therapy should feel like a partnership that moves you forward, not a prescription you passively receive.

I hold a B.Sc. from Trent University and a Master's from McGill University, where I trained at a psychiatric hospital in Montreal. As someone of South Asian background, I bring particular care to questions of culture, identity, and belonging — and to creating a space where every part of you is welcome.

Outside the session, you'll find me deeply involved in the Kawarthas community through fundraisers, cultural committees, and local events — or working out, learning Bollywood dance, and travelling somewhere new.

Areas I work with most

Whatever brings you here, you don't have to have it figured out first. These are some of the areas I support — often, they overlap.

Anxiety

Quieting the racing thoughts and finding steadier ground.

Depression

Moving through the heaviness toward meaning and momentum.

Trauma

Gently processing the past so it loosens its grip on the present.

Life Transitions

Navigating change, identity, and the start of a new chapter.

Coping Skills

Practical, portable tools for the genuinely hard days.

Family Conflict

Repairing connection and feeling heard at home.

Infertility

Holding space for loss, hope, and the in-between.

Men's Issues

A place to set down the armour and speak honestly.

Grief

Carrying loss at your own pace, with nothing to rush.

Psychosis

Compassionate, grounded support and steady stability.

Racial Identity

Exploring belonging, heritage, and a fuller sense of self.

2SLGBTQI+

Affirming care for who you are and who you love.

How I work

Steady, evidence-based, and led by you

01

Grounded & practical

I draw on proven, evidence-based approaches — and translate them into tools you can actually use between sessions.

02

Culturally attuned

Your identity, culture, and lived experience belong in the room. I bring genuine curiosity and care to all of it.

03

Paced to move

Purposeful, not rushed. We move at a pace that keeps you safe and making progress — checking in, adjusting, and always working toward your goals.

Questions

Frequently asked

All sessions are held virtually over secure video, so you can meet from a place that feels comfortable and private to you. I work with clients across Ontario, with roots in Peterborough and the Kawarthas.

Individual sessions run 50 to 60 minutes. We can talk about frequency together — many people start weekly and adjust as things settle.

Mostly, we get to know each other. You'll share what's bringing you in and what you're hoping for, I'll ask some questions, and we'll get a feel for working together. There's no pressure to have it all figured out.

Many extended health plans cover services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist. I provide a receipt after each session that you can submit to your insurer — it's worth checking your specific plan for coverage.

Send me an email at [email protected] with a little about what's bringing you here. I'll reply to answer any questions and find a time that works for you.
